Chelsea Capelet Knitting Kit

Chelsea Capelet Knitting Kit

$198.00

The Chelsea Cowl was designed to be worn either indoors or outdoors.  The length is ideal to keep the chill off your torso while maintaining mobility of your arms.  Its cabled and eyelet construction provides texture and visual interest once the i-cord or jumbo yarn have been inserted. The completed Chelsea Capelet is available in two sizes; 30-42” bust, 16” length, 66” lower circumference, or 44-60” bust, 19” length, 76” lower circumference.  We have also created a how-to video on the home page of this website called “Inserting i-cord into eyelets of the Chelsea Capelet" for tips on making this project. This knitting kit includes lovely bulky wool/kid mohair blend yarn, either jumbo alpaca bump yarn or DK handpaint yarn, our intermediate level knitting pattern, and comes packaged in our hunter green Koozie reusable cooler bag.

Notes: This is a cabled capelet pattern worked in the round from the bottom up. The capelet has a split collar allowing the wearer to wear it as a traditional collar with the split in the center front, or wear it with the split to the side as shown in the photo. Large eyelets are worked into the design. Once the capelet knitting is complete, either a jumbo bulky alpaca yarn is chained through the eyelets, or an i-cord is knit and then chained through the eyelets. The jumbo yarn is actually 100% alpaca fiber overspun onto a cotton core. Most of the instructions are charted.

See “Inserting I-cord into eyelets of the Chelsea Capelet” on the how-to videos page of this website for a tutorial on this method.
