About Angora Rabbits
Satin angora rabbits produce a wool that is finer than the wool of other angora breeds. The wool is very fine, soft and silky. There is also good crimp to the underwool. The Satin Angora wool appears to be 'shiny' which is known as sheen. The smaller diameter and clarity of the hair shaft provides a reflection of light that gives the hair a shining richness of color. The sheen is evident over the entire body from nose to tail. The wool grows quickly and requires constant grooming to avoid tangles. We clip our angoras every three months. They get used to the process and are not harmed in any way.
Adult satin angora bucks (males) and does (females) weigh between 6 1/2 and 9 1/2 pounds.
Daily care is similar to other domestic rabbits. We recommend giving Papaya Enzyme tablets three times per week to help disolve any fiber that is ingested. We also recommend a larger cage due to their size and a way for them to get off of a wire mesh base due to their weight.
Satin angoras are a very friendly breed. Many really seem to enjoy the companionship of humans.
